Paddy O' Mahony is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter/composer and sound designer based in South Tipperary, Ireland.
Music has always been in his blood—his grandfather and older relatives played in Irish showbands during the 1950s, sparking a passion that’s been passed down through generations. His musical journey began in 1989 at the age of 10, starting out on drums and percussion, which gave him a solid foundation in rhythm and performance. At 13, his father gave him a second-hand acoustic guitar, and from that moment, he was hooked. A year later, while visiting family in the UK, Paddy discovered a deeper love for songwriting and began exploring lyrics and melody. In recent years, piano has become his go-to for expressing emotion and shaping his sound. After picking up a used upright piano in 2002, and later a digital one in 2003, he dedicated years to understanding its nuances and developing a personal style. Over the last 25 years, Paddy has built a wide-ranging body of work, releasing both solo and collaborative music. He’s also spent time on the other side of the mixing desk, engineering and producing albums for fellow artists—something he finds just as rewarding as creating his own music. Today, Paddy works from his home studio in South Tipperary, where he continues to write and record refining music that draws on themes like nature, human connection, and creative storytelling normally through mainly instrumental works. With a strong connection to the natural world and a broad artistic outlook, Paddy is always open to collaborations across film, TV, media, dance, and other creative projects. |
